Keeping Your Car’s Interior Looking New
If you spend a great deal of time in your car, due to traveling or commuting, make your car’s interior a pleasant place to be by keeping it new-car clean. Not only will it be more comfortable and attractive, you’ll reduce accumulated dust, which carries allergens.
Begin by taking out all of the floor mats, and vacuum the entire interior thoroughly. This includes the carpeted floor, upholstery, and between crevices where dirt may have built up. The doors also may be carpeted. You’ll probably need an attachment to reach under the seats. If your car’s seats are easily removable, take them out for this stage. Remember to vacuum the floor mats (and seats, if applicable) also. Using a foam-spray style carpet cleaning solution, spray down each area, and scrub it with a slightly damp cloth. Then, dry as thoroughly as you can with a towel. You don’t want to leave any dampness behind that may mildew.
Next, dust the console and other hard plastic or wood paneled areas. Using a dampened cloth, wipe down all non-porous surfaces. There may also be areas where panels join that you missed while vacuuming. When you’re done, use plastic polish and a soft cloth or brush to bring out the shine.
