If you are looking for ways to enhance the overall performance of your car, you may want to consider looking into purchasing and having an aftermarket exhaust system installed. These exhausts can be used for purely cosmetic purposes – the end result with most system installations is a roaring or growling sound produced by the car, making it more prominent and noticeable. On the other hand, some people are more interested in the practical benefits of having these systems installed; the increase in horsepower and torque make things way more fun and efficient behind the wheel. Regardless of what the buyer’s intentions are, understanding how the exhaust fits into the greater picture is important.

The exhaust system on a car acts just like a person’s respiratory system. Different gases that are produced by the engine are given an exit route through the exhaust tubing. If the gases are not being properly expelled from the vehicle, the general efficiency of the engine will drop, and some safety issues may even arise. Most high performance exhaust systems will utilize exhaust piping of a larger diameter, giving gases a much more rapid and effective means of leaving the car; this gives the engine more room to breathe. As a result, horsepower and torque gains will be noticed, as the engine is now capable of working at its true potential. It is important that an optimal bore size is fitted to the system, as an improper size can cause losses on overall low end torque. Normal exhaust systems that are utilized by auto manufacturers use crush bent exhaust tubing, which further restricts the gas flow in the system. High performance exhausts on the other hand will provide mandrel bent exhaust tubing, where the diameter of the tubing remains consistent throughout the entire exhaust system.

If you spend a great deal of time in your car, due to traveling or commuting, make your car’s interior a pleasant place to be by keeping it new-car clean. Not only will it be more comfortable and attractive, you’ll reduce accumulated dust, which carries allergens.

Begin by taking out all of the floor mats, and vacuum the entire interior thoroughly. This includes the carpeted floor, upholstery, and between crevices where dirt may have built up. The doors also may be carpeted. You’ll probably need an attachment to reach under the seats. If your car’s seats are easily removable, take them out for this stage. Remember to vacuum the floor mats (and seats, if applicable) also. Using a foam-spray style carpet cleaning solution, spray down each area, and scrub it with a slightly damp cloth. Then, dry as thoroughly as you can with a towel. You don’t want to leave any dampness behind that may mildew.

Next, dust the console and other hard plastic or wood paneled areas. Using a dampened cloth, wipe down all non-porous surfaces. There may also be areas where panels join that you missed while vacuuming. When you’re done, use plastic polish and a soft cloth or brush to bring out the shine.
