Have Fun Fishing
If you’re getting tired of an ongoing parade of movies, dinner out, shopping, and so forth, why not try a complete change of pace and pick up a fishing pole? While those who fish during their leisure time usually learned as children, learning to fish isn’t difficult. And any experienced fisherman will tell you that fishing isn’t only about catching fish, it’s about spending time outdoors, enjoying the company of your friends, or just some quiet time to reflect.
And for parents, while you might not have gone fishing as children, it’s a wonderful activity to learn alongside your own children. For all ages, fishing is a fun way to learn something new.
To find local fishing resources check your area’s Parks and Recreation, state Department of Natural Resources, or local National Park Service websites. They’ll be able to tell you where you can fish, and what types of fish you might catch there. For fishing supplies, go to a nearby store that specializes in outdoor recreation supplies or fishing gear. The employees will probably also be able to tell you what type of bait works best where you live.
For beginning fishermen, don’t spend too much on your gear. You can start with a simple rod and reel for less than $20.00, or even a cane pole and line. Once you’ve gotten hooked on fishing, you’ll know what more expensive items you want to invest in.
